Bhavini’s deep understanding of the challenges faced by working families fuels her commitment to helping working people creating a region that works for every neighborhood and every family, so everyone can live the American Dream.Inspired by her mother’s entrepreneurship and looking for innovative ways to promote public service, Bhavini was Cofounder and CEO of Beamdata, a small business launched just when the COVID pandemic led to shutdowns and communities were looking for government guidance. Her innovative, successful start-up Beamdata, helped people connect with their elected officials in a critical time.Bhavini is currently an elected official serving on Edgewood Borough Council where she focuses on public safety and listening and serving constituent needs. Every person deserves to grow up and live in a community without the fear of gun violence and subsequent physical and emotional trauma. With nearly 1600 killed each year in Pennsylvania alone as a result of weak gun safety laws, we must act now to address our nation’s epidemic of gun violence and build a safer country for our children.I applaud President Biden signing the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law. In Congress, I’ll focus on helping pass common sense gun legislation such as universal background checks for all gun sales, closing loopholes that make it easy for criminals to buy guns and banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.&nbsp;We must recognize the historical disinvestment in communities of color and low-income neighborhoods who are disproportionately affected by our inaction on this issue. We must respond with investments to support after-school programs, mental health support, job training, educational opportunities, homeownership programs and more.In Congress, I’ll do whatever I can to reduce and prevent senseless and tragic acts of gun violence. This includes but is not limited to ending online sales of guns and ammunition, closing gun show loopholes, and enacting universal background checks. The time to act has long passed.Finally, I will support the Democrats efforts to ensure that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have the resources they need to study gun violence.

&nbsp;In Congress, I’ll do whatever I can to reduce and prevent senseless and tragic acts of gun violence.

The day after the attack, the Pittsburgh region came together to mourn the ongoing tragedy and to strongly stand with our ally, Israel. Representative Lee could not bring herself to show up for her community and was absent from the event. We deserve better.&nbsp;"This week, the Congresswoman’s comments were wildly out of touch and irresponsible as she reflexively rushed to condemn Israel for the bombing of a hospital without knowing the facts. President Biden confirmed Israeli intelligence that the hospital bombing was caused by a misfired rocket from an armed military group in Gaza, not by Israel.&nbsp;“Like other reasonable people in this region, my heart breaks for each of the innocent civilians who have died since Hamas started this war.&nbsp;“We need a Member of Congress who is a principled leader and informed decision maker. Instead, Congresswoman Lee has recklessly chosen to spread disinformation, increased tension and fomenting division and fear. There is a saying: ‘A lie is halfway around the world before the truth has got its boots on.’ The Congresswoman can’t walk back her misguided statements, actions, and inactions.&nbsp;“In times of crisis and unthinkable violence, we deserve a representative who will show up and put our community's mourning above sowing disinformation on social media. Spreading disinformation only worsens the deep tragedy of war.”###
